A Place of Their Own: Designing for Movement and Grace

Project details

As my first design project, this studio challenged me to explore the relationship between interiority, human activity, and form. Inspired by the fluid motion of hula-hooping, I focused on creating a tall, circular structure with dynamic, curved openings that reflect the activity’s energy and rhythm. Model-making was central to my design process, allowing me to experiment with proportions, shapes, and spatial arrangements instead of formal plans. This hands-on approach helped me translate the physical and emotional requirements of the activity into a functional and engaging space.
