Summer Internship Overview
I’m an American architecture student from Boston, currently in my second year at Newcastle University in the UK. I’m seeking a summer 2025 internship where I can apply my skills, gain hands-on experience, and contribute to meaningful projects in a professional setting.
Newcastle University’s Architecture BA Honors degree is a design-based program accredited by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), which enjoys reciprocity with the NAAB in the United States. Unlike US programs, where students take general education courses in their first two years, UK architecture programs focus entirely on the discipline from day one. Because of this structure, I have already completed two full-year design studios and an intensive architecture-focused curriculum, resulting in the same level of hands-on experience as a third-year student in a US program.
Through my coursework and projects, I have developed proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite, along with extensive hands-on experience in model-making and material studies. My coursework and projects have focused on sustainability, community-focused design, and adaptive reuse, balancing creative design with real-world functionality. In a recent project, I designed a mixed-use facility that combined a community pottery studio with cooperative housing, creating a dynamic space that fosters creativity, social engagement, and sustainable living. By reinvigorating an underutilized site with recycled materials, the project aimed to strengthen local connections and provide accessible, multi-functional spaces for residents.
Beyond technical skills, I thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy contributing to creative, fast-paced teams. As a peer mentor at Newcastle University, I work with first-year architecture students to help them navigate studio projects, improve their design process, and develop proficiency with design software. This experience has strengthened my ability to communicate ideas, lead discussions, and support others—skills that translate directly into a professional setting.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss my qualifications further and how I can contribute to your firm this summer. Please feel free to contact me to arrange a conversation at your convenience.
